The purpose of trend development is to identify, analyze, and understand emerging patterns and shifts within various fields of market. This process can help a business anticipate future changes, make informed decisions, and stay competitive. It enables organizations to proactively respond to evolving environments and leverage new opportunities.
Some of my key objectives while trending include:
Color Analysis: Studying current and emerging color trends in the market in association with consumer preferences and the cultural influences that affect color choices.
Forecasting: Predicting future market dynamics, consumer behaviors, marketing opportunities and industry changes.
Strategic Planning: Informing long-term business strategies and investment decisions.
Innovation: Identifying opportunities for new products, services, or technologies.
Risk Management: Preparing for potential challenges and disruptions.
Competitive Advantage: Staying ahead of competitors by adapting to or leading market trends.

From 2010-2013 I had the privilege of working with the creative power-house Cynthia Vincent as an associate designer for her bohemian clothing brand Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent.
While working with Cynthia, my favorite career achievement came early in our first season together. One of my first assignments was to work on a series of belts and belted leather harnesses that she was going to incorporate into the clothing. This project turned into an entire line extension of small leather goods that was picked up by Anthropologie Stores nation wide.
Our work at Twelfth Street was highly marketed in celebrity culture and was sold nation wide in stores like Barneys, Nieman Marcus, Anthropologie and Nordstrom.
As an Associate Designer at Twelfth Street I was able to contribute to a variety of business capacities including:
Textile Design:
Fabrication Development, Digital Prints, Silkscreen, Block Print, Custom Dyes and Dips, Lasercut and Etching, Beading, Embroideries and Appliqué, Embellishment Sourcing
Bill of Materials
Spec Sheets
Fittings Recorder
Color Approvals
Line Sheet Managment
Sample Management
Intern Management
Design Studio Coordination
Photoshoot Production
Photography Styling
Packaging design is the process in which we add formatted materials to the exterior of a product to protect it with the goal of simultaneously enhancing it's marketability, usability, and sustainability while effectively communicating its value to consumers.
Even though 99.9% of packaging materials eventually get discarded, successful packaging needs to adhere to a wide range of functions. It has to be functional, holding your product, enabling it to be transported and stored. It needs to stand out from your competitors' packaging in some way, as well as appeal to customers in-store and online.
For me, key objectives of packaging design include:
Branding: Reinforcing the brand's identity and values through visual elements like logos, colors, and typography.
Attraction: Catching the consumer's eye and standing out on shelves with appealing and distinctive design.
Protection: Safeguarding the product from damage during transportation, storage, and handling.
Information: Providing essential marketing and compliance details about the product, such as ingredients, usage instructions, and legal disclaimers.
Usability: Ensuring the packaging is user-friendly, easy to open, and convenient to use or dispose of.
Sustainability: Utilizing eco-friendly materials and practices to minimize environmental impact and maximize packing efficiencies.

Typography is more than just selecting fonts or scribbling letters on a page. It's a malleable art form that shapes the way your message is relayed and perceived.
From the clean, modern lines of sans-serif fonts to the natural ease of a hand script or the classic sophistication of a serif typeface, every choice in typography speaks volumes. It's the science of delivering information by creating visual intention, harmony and purpose on a page.
The right typography choice ensures that your words not only convey a desired message but also evokes a desired emotion. It is intentional and a fundamental catalyst in building lasting impact through visual exchange of information.
